You are really using this... Do you mind telling me, what it is good for ? Please write a review. I begin to wonder... ;-)

Crème Fraiche transforms EML-files, as they are created by email-clients, to PDF.

Requires Ruby 1.9 or above.

Uses three or four Ruby-Gems: Mail, Prawn and Nokogiri. For the graphical user-interface, Gtk3 is needed in addition.

Missing gems may be installed upon first use of the program. You might need super-user rights to ensure they are installed correctly on your system. Just try and observe the program output.

The PDFTK toolkit should be installed (optional).

Install as a gem:
:$ gem install cremefraiche

I am accepting donations! This money will go into the renovation of a farm-house and a barn and "biological farming"-stuff, animals, trees... Contact me if you feel like contributing.

Crème Fraiche Web Site

  • Create PDF from email independently of the software platform or email-client.
  • Transform at once all the emails, currently stored in one or more folders, each into its own PDF-file.
  • Handle mail-attachments in the process, so that they are available with the PDF.
  • Provide a way to influence the format of the resulting PDF.
  • Create equally readable documents from HTML-mails and plain text (I can explain, why this is highly hypothetical, not why it actually works sometimes).
  • Let the user choose which mail-headers she/he wants to see in the PDF-file.
  • Base all the previous actions on the EML-format of the input-files.
  • Set the PDF meta-data fields Author, Subject, Keywords and Title to user-defined values.
  • This program is free software. Adapt the Ruby-code to your needs.
