It's official! CoffeeLink Open News Server is now available as an open source project at no charge and with full source code. The open source license agreement, the QPL v1.0, allows anyone to obtain the source code, distribute the program to others, and even modify the source code to enhance the server or create other open source programs.
The QPL requires that any programs createdu sing any CLNews source must be distributed with complete source code as well. Even your modifications would need to be published for others to use.
So grab a copy of the source from here on sourceforge and try it out! If you have any questions or comments feel free to either post them here or email me at
bburton@users.sourceforge.net.
If you find any bugs please submit them here on sourceforge using the bug tracker so I can give priority to getting them fixed and others can see what progress we are making.
The goal of open source is to produce quality software by soliciting feedback from users and other developers. I'm exposing my code for all to see in the hope that others will find it useful and also help me to improve it by reporting bugs and offering suggestions!
