After 3.8 released last year, a radically new and ambitious 4.0 began. The most current branch is slowly introducing new architecture and experimental functionality into a mixed production/testing deployment while simultaneously maintaining legacy support. An external security audit was recently performed on the 4.0 branch leading to several patches and bug fixes. Unfortunately there isn't enough time to apply these fixes to the 3.8 branch, yet the 4.0 branch is still too messy, experimental, and deployment-specific to release. It was decided to remove the flawed 3.8 release from sourceforge. Hopefully version 4 will be ready for public consumption sometime in Q3 2009.
