Just installed Classic Shell and choose "Vista" start menu type and I can not
see Computer icon on right side. It's not also available in settings either.
Any ideas?

Well just to make it easier for users, the right column by default should have
Computer, My Music and Default Programs, the three items which are missing
right now IMHO.

But then it would need a setting for each - to show as a menu, show as a link,
or not at all. And then those settings won't work for the Classic style
because such items won't exist. It will become messy.

You could have those items added as default settings of original Start Menu,
have "Don't expand" checked for whichever are not shown as menu by default.

Sorry, I don't understand what you are suggesting.
Either way, I don't think Computer or Default Programs is that useful in the
Windows Start menu. Computer only opens one level to show the drives, and do
you really change the default programs that often to stick it on the main
menu?

I am suggesting that Computer, Default Programs and Music should be added by
default because they are in the Windows 7 menu but as a link, not menu. With
Windows 8, Default Programs is needed because they removed programmatic file
associations completely so after every program you install, you need to set it
as default, and Computer is needed because many people right click on it to
access System Properties and Computer Management. Also, My Documents and My
Pictures need to be just "Documents" and "Pictures".

And I'm saying that if I do that I will need to add a setting in the Special
Items tab for each one of these folders (because otherwise people will start
asking how to remove them, or how to make them expandable).
And if I do that I will need to add them to the default layout of the classic
menu (because otherwise those settings will do nothing for the classic menu).
And if I do that the classic menu will become too big.
So bottom line is because we have multiple default styles, for consistency
they will need to contain the same elements. There needs to be a balance
between "how much crap can we fit in the two columns of the vista style" vs.
"how much of it will fit in the single column of the classic style".

There is no Computer available in customize start screen. See screenshot
below.

Use the Custom Command. Then open its properties and select "Computer" for the
Link property. No need to set the Label or Icon (unless you want to customize
them).

Thanks, It worked. Not sure why Computer is not included. I frequently use it
to go to root of hard drives and as well as right click properties of
computer.

You need to edit the menu items. Go to the Customize Start Menu tab in the
settings. If you don't see such tab, click on All Settings at the bottom.
