is there a chebi policy on synonym expansion. E.g. should there be an exact synonym
4-alpha-hydroxytetrahydrobiopterin
If it's not CHEBI policy to expand synonyms such as this, is there a deterministic algorithm that can be used to perform this expansion? or conversely, is it always safe to perform the reverse contraction?.

Hi,
Classification high up in the ontology should not be allowed. This entry has been classified as a role which we should basically disallow:
http://www.ebi.ac.uk/chebi/searchId.do?viewTermLineage=true&chebiId=CHEBI:53431#termLineage
Only anything below chemical, biological and application should be allowed.
Cheers,
P.

Doing a similarity search with paracetamol and excluding the id 46195 using BUT NOT only finds paracetamol which is not what I was searching for.

Searching for C6H6O4 and then selecting in the 'Filter ontology Term' the operator BUT NOT 'carboxylic acid' gives an error.

After carrying out a search with more than one page of hits, when I try and go to the second page, I get the 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' message. This has happened more than once. It seems OK with Firefox though.

ChEBI release 62 is now available, containing 455,788 total entities, of which 19,236 are annotated entities and 607 were submitted via the ChEBI submission tool.
With this release, we've incorporated the compound records from the ChEMBL dataset and introduced a starring system to identify core (3-star) annotated ChEBI entries from entries annotated by the ChEMBL project and ChEBI submitters.

Hi Marcus,
I'm not sure about whether all polybenzoxazoles are photosensitive, the literature hasn't been all that helpful either. Can we go for a synonym of "PBOs" instead of my original two suggestions.

Hello,
Please can the definition of 53331 be "Polymers composed of -CR1=CR2- units", I think this is more helpful than my original definition.
There's also a typo in the CHEBI name of 53249. It should "polyvinylidene". According to IUPAC a "polyvinylene" is a synonym for my 53331 (oops! - sorry) so please can this and the synonym for 53249 be transferred to 53331?
Thanks,
Hilary.
