  • Compiling on AIX 6.1

Trying to get cdpr 2.3 to compile on AIX 6.1. I have used/compiled cdpr on Solaris and Linux in the past, but I might be missing something stupid also since I haven't worked on AIX in about 6 years. I have gcc 4.2, pcap and binutil all installed from the AIX Toolbox. When I run the make command I keep getting this error: $ make gcc -Wall -W -O2 -ggdb cdpr.c cdprs.c conffile.c...

  • CDPR

Ablility to lengthen the number of characters reported. So far, we can only see which switch it is plugged into. Here is and example of what it looks like when it runs: Device ID value: xxxx-2975-IDF4 Addresses value: xx.x.xxx.xx Port ID value: GigabitEthernet1/ that is where the transmission ends. Any help in allowing more characters would be greatly appreciated.

  • Comment: LLDP support

i'ld also appreciate additional LLDP support in future versions. i could provide a simple patch that converts the cdpr application from CDP to LLDP support. it should be trivial to make it support both protocols at the same time.

  • Comment: LLDP support

LLDP support would be awsome! i dont know a cdp/lldp client for windows. if u'll make one, it would be very helpful for our networking guys :)

  • Comment: A cdp daemon,

That is not the intent of this project. The project is to report to the user what switch/port they are connected to. cdpr does have the ability to send a URL encoded request to a webserver containing all of the information you would require to create a database of what devices are on what switch ports.

Check out openlldp, another sourceforge project.

  • Comment: LLDP support

I would second the comment. It would be very helpful if it suppoted LLDP.

  • LLDP support

I love CDPR, but have recently started replacing Cisco switches with switches that use LLDP rather than CDP. Ideally a tool that would report on either one would be GREAT.
