Serious problem with CDex 1.70 beta3

  1. 2009-11-15 09:42:00 PST
CDex 1.70 beta3 crashes here before it has actually started. I only get a 0xc0150002 (application failed to initialize). CDex 1.51 and 1.70 beta2 are OK.

Same here, Eric. However, it is only beta 3 that crashes. Installing beta 2 instead of 3 was fine. I do not have Delrina sample rate conversion codec in my updated Windows XP Pro. SP3 system. Also, I have K-Lite Codec Full Pack v5.20 installed if that matters.

Hello, eric9002 there is a problem with older visual studio redistributable files, which are not equal with the files used during compilation of CDex. Microsoft did make some security updates to Visual Studio in the past. Could you try to install the file vcredist_x86.exe, which is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2 More background information can be found here: Description of the security update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package: July 28, 2009 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973544/ Let me know, whether the installation will help you to start CDex. I will prepare a version which will come with the needed files from Microsoft. Thanks for your help, Georgy Berdyshev

Codingmaster: I think I already have that update? See http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/4316/screenshotb.gif ... Is there a way to check?

Hi antdude, thanks for your reply. I did see in the screenshot that your update refers to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973923 The link that I did provide above refers to: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=973544 Although it is the same security issue: security bulletin MS09-035 The update provides more files, e.g. MFC which CDex relies on and they come with the update above. You can verify that the update on your system has less files, by looking into the KB articles. Let me know about the update. Thanks in advance, Georgy Berdyshev

Hi, I have checked and confirm the bug with a clean Windows XP SP2 installation. Installing the vcredist_x86.exe, which was mentioned above resolves the problem. quote: Could you try to install the file vcredist_x86.exe, which is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2 Georgy Berdyshev

Thanks for the swift response, George. It's OK now. BTW, will you make available a ZIP package? See: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?sc=78 ------------------------------ BTW, have you noticed the similarities? http://www.goodkatshare.com/?page_id=6

Hello I've seen this software used to add WAV header to MP3 for embedding into PpowerPoint. Is there a Mac equvalent I can use to do this same thing? Thanks
