Yes it's true that the architecture would allow a non-ejb option to be added in pretty easily. However, we would be re-writing all the application logic, which is now held in the business tier. This would essentially create a seperate branch of the code which would have to be maintained seperately from the ejb option. This is something that I don't think we want to do at this point for this project, but it may make a good candidate for another seperate but related project (say cayambeLite or something). If this is something that you are really interested in we can talk architecture and such a bit more.
