Here you'll get quite a lot of the features that webupd8 and omgubuntu features in a easy and fast script.
You'll have to mark it as an executable to run it. Then run it in the terminal.
If it doesn't promt you with the choice to open it in the terminal then go to: (In Nautilus), go to menu Files -> Preferences. Go to Behavior tab and you'll find the options to set the file manager behavior when you open executable text files. I Recomend to set it to 'always ask'.

For Ubuntu 12.04 use version 0.5.5 or older
For Ubuntu 12.10 use bTweaker 1.y.x recommended is to use 1.4.2
For Ubuntu 13.04 use version 2.0 or newer
