Very powerful tool for Process Modeling! 53 BPMN 2.0 basic elements are included (Activities, Gateways, Conversations, Choreographies and pools & lanes functionality). Additionally, these elements can be decorated with their appropriate Activity Marker, Task Type or Event Type via a context menu after being placed on the sheet. As a result, Yaoqiang BPMN Editor is capable of drawing all existing icons and elements of the BPMN 2.0 standard! When connecting elements, the editor selects the correct connector type automatically (e.g. Sequence Flow, Message Flow, etc.)! Very helpful: the editor is capable of checking the syntax of your designs in real-time! The pool & lane functionality supports lane collapsing and even sub lanes. Overall a really GREAT and powerful too, yet having a very low learning curve! Additionally to the stand-alone-functionality this application may function as a designer-front-end for the Business Process Engine / Workflow Engine "Activiti", since it has a connector feature to this BPMN engine. Last but surely not least, the developer is extremely active, communicating with his community in the forum, feature-request- and bug-tracker almost real time. He is releasing minor versions approximately on a weekly basis, often taking into account feature requests of the community. This truly seems to be a best practice project! Developer(s), please keep up the good work and community please support this great project e.g. with code, bug reports, feature ideas, money and by spreading the word in the BPM-world!

This a simple and great tool to - at least start with - bpmn-modelling. It's much better and less complex than a lot of commercial tools I know. I tried to load the omg-examples and it works incl. diagram interchange. If you want to learn BPMN 2.0 take this tool, buy a good book and start modelling. I did not evaluate in detail - but however : This is great work. Throw away ARIS Express and whatever is out as an appetizer to buy big big suites and start with this tool.
