The BBS Project

I'd like to support email, games, forums and file areas as separate programs. Essentially, I want to pipe stdin and stdout (and possibly a control stream) of the application through to whatever controlling program serves as the user's shell.

That way, users could use mutt or even mailx. They could use bsdgames and gnuchess. They could use a system-local newsgroup, if they wanted.

That way, the "door" doesn't become user-modal preventing things like local instant messanging. (We called it "paging" under MajorBBS and WorldGroup.
