    Atol supports archiver plugins. You can find the interface defined in:
    "atol-0.7.6\plugins\src\plugin_int.h"
    If you want to try, you can invent the "fake" archiver that handles, for example, ".ftp" file format.

    I am just not sure why integrating server library instead of client library into the GUI tool.

    BTW Atol already has FTP support (including FTP over SSL support).
