You are more then welcome to download the source code of this plugin and build a Debug version. You will need to get ASIO SDK from Steinberg,
but that's about it. If you study the source code, you will find a place
to put a breakpoint and check what actually is going on.
By the way, another reason WMP may be silent if you opened
plug-in property page. If you've done so, you'll need to restart WMP.
On XP, I don't believe it matters which compression codec was used.
The plug-in has nothing to do with this, as it deals with uncompressed
data. On Vista and Windows 7, there are some restrictions on
the compression format. CD Audio however should work the same
(but not WAV files).
