  • Was pleasantly surprised by the spice edition! Was trying out the openbox iso but ran into problems with tint2 and couldn't get the hotkeys on my laptop to function properly. Installed the spice iso and no problems whatsoever. Hopefully the spice will continue, next to the openbox iso. - Installation (on external ssd) was easy with the installer. Did do my partitioning up front using gparted though. Setting up pacman, pamac & bauh without any problems and updating the system went also without any issue. . Thanks for your work on this distro mrgreen! The spice is gonna be my daily distro from now on. ;-)
  • Thank you for the latest "spice" ISO with cinnamon, it is great! Please, keep them alive!

  • ok it is just nice as 'live cd' nothing else, as the pacman databases are broken and can't be updated, I am curious if the maintainer even checking what they did ... do not waste your time to d/load this rubbish, get mabox instead, way polished and WORKS
  • Excellent project, very nice and very helpful
  • I have my own openbox themes, cursors and settings in file. When i install archbang, I just simply put the files in their usual path and voila! That's all i need to get my amazing system. Programs i use installing with one command. Thanks you million times Mrgreenlinux to keeping up arch way.
  • Absolutely one of the greatest distros i've seen and used (not only arch based). Simplicity with clean and friendly setup - any issues found (just rare situation, for real) is always fixed or changed by the author. Fully deserved 5 stars and i can't recommend it enough. Give it a try, you won't regret!
  • Great, no bloatware, easy GUI install!
  • This minimal distro is a really good idea : later, you choose what packages to install. And OpenBox works so fine :-) But I didn't find any support... it's a pity.

You can find contact details over on archbang.org. Simply have no way to support a mailing list of forums, as I am the only one running iso currently.
  • Very nice distribution, awesome work! Thank you Mr Green 😋 Archbang Linux fits your PC just like a spandex fits your skin. Just enough Linux to run a sexy desktop with the absolute minimum in term of apps. Most of Linux distributions have a lot of packages pre installed you don't need: Archbang comes superslim. Still Archbang requieres a bit of work to make is sexy, but nothing dramatic if you're already familiar with Linux. A few customisation later and it becomes my favorite desktop. Archbang Linux features: - Dynamic xdg menus generation for openbox - Dmenu - Tint2 taskbar - Live distribution running from the USB key or directly in RAM - Available in sysremd or openrc - Conky profile to remind you the most useful key bindings I like it, it's simple, fast, and nice
  • Archbang-Artix and Artix: you have done an extraordinary job creating such a excellent free Linux distro, and I want to thank you for that! I have tried both, Archbang-Artix and Artix, Open-RC, October and November 2017 releases, and they work flawlessly. A hint, just install the base w/o graphical userinterface (Artix) and then do the install job by hand: A quick road to success with OpenRC for newbies: ------------------------------------------------ $ sudo pacman -Syu $ sudo pacman -S xfce4 xorg ttf-dejavu $ pacman -S sddm //(Artix) $ pacman -S lxdm //(Archbang; lxdm!) How to configure the display manager? ------------------------------------- $ sudo pacman -S displaymanager-openrc $ sudo vi /etc/conf.d/xdm //(set sddm, lxdm... instead of xdm) $ sudo rc-update add xdm default Reboot, success. Some steps: X11 forwarding: sudo vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config --> X11Forwarding yes Install some nice tools and things: ----------------------------------- sudo pacman -S net-tools sudo pacman -S xapps sudo pacman -S xorg-xclock sudo pacman -S artix-backgrounds gnome-backgrounds mate-background sudo pacman -S libreoffice-fresh sudo pacman -S libreoffice-fresh-en-GB libreoffice-fresh-de libreoffice-fresh-fr sudo pacman -S make cmake gcc python3 sudo pacman -S eclipse-cpp This got me a fully working system with which I can continue..... I'm now on a fresh install and can continue where Manjaro OpenRC left me. Please move that post to whatever place that suites your purpose best. Once again, THANK YOU! Andre, 06-NOV-2017
  • This is an excellent fast and solid distro! I recommend this for anyone needing arch based setup. I do have a few grudges, the new builds don't have gallium 4.0 as default in mesa, glxinfo | grep OpenGL doesn't even work. aside from this major thing for me, I can't give it a full 5 stars. I do like the design though and simplicity w/openbox included, and I do hope they patch the mesa for gallium 4.0 out of the box
  • I love Arch, and this makes a quick installation a breeze! I had it going on an old laptop in minutes!

  • Argh... so complicated terminal partitioners... it's so easy to break something with them, for not so experienced people. I wish there was a guided gparted option until installtion on the created partition...
  • Congratulation for this nice work! Good job!
  • Ty For this wonderful distro. It's a wonderful Alt to the other Arch Distros spins. I Always find myself coming back to the Bang,Bang. !# Making my Arch installs quicker and a bit less time consuming.

  • mrgreenlinux any plans for making 32 bit isos for your latest rc isos with qt?
  • So far so good, light and responsive, ready to use and fairly friendly with the user.

  • It is the best bridge between something like Ubuntu / Mint and the core Arch Distribution. I don't loose control but I get an easier user experience as starting with Arch directly. Thanks - well done.
