Last night I ran AJ, and here's what I got when booting:
At the Applejack prompt - root # AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement: initialization complete
Broadcom2045 FamilyUSBBluetoothHCI Controller:: Start Booting in Single User ... will wait for later
[HCIController] [ConfigurePM] power parent ready after 1 tries
and then the usual stuff as I posted before,

I'm delaying updating to Snow Leopard until Applejack is compatible. Any idea when that will be?

I rebooted to Single User Mode twice yesterday and watched closely, and here's what I found:
The prompt appears briefly, but then more text comes it, so to get another prompt I must hit Enter.
Here's what's being written after the prompt:

I don't get any result when I paste the command into Terminal.
I don't have a password on my system, so when it asks for a password I hit Enter, then get another prompt.

anyone had this experience before and able to weigh in?
in the meantime, what does your /var/root/.profile look like?
Terminal command:
sudo pico /var/root/.profile
My output:

Recently, maybe since the last update? when I first enter Single User Mode, the text doesn't end at a prompt. If I press Enter, I'll get a prompt.
If I type applejack auto restart where the cursor is at first, THEN I get a prompt and must type it again.
This is not a big deal for me, but took me a few uses to figure out why AJ didn't run the first time I typed it.
