I loaded Ubuntu 8.04 LTS to another hard drive and got the laptop running on it. That wasn't a problem.
After most of a days worth of installing programs, reading online about what things needs to be installed for Airsnort to run, and using Synaptic Package Manager to load about a half dozen programs, I'm no closer to getting this damn thing running.
The airsnort file I have on my laptop is airsnort-0.2.7e.tar.gz . I called some local Linux guy about it and he freaked, saying it was uncompiled and would be a shitload of work to get it compiled and installed.
And whoever thought up the name "tarball" for Linux files. What the HELL is a tarball, other than a ball of tar? Did some Linux haxxor think that up all on his own?
