How do MP3's and WAV's sound on /your/ XMMS setup? I bet they sound like major flatulence. If you have ALSA, you need to check out aio-xmms. If it doesn't produce the best sound you've ever heard out of a computer, I want to know all about your setup and why. aio-xmms allows XMMS to use the Audio Input-Output Library as its output device, providing crystal clear latency-locked playback on ALSA Linux systems. libAIO automatically detects the block size of the input plugin, and synchronizes its writes accordingly. The result is a noticeably steadier, more natural sound regardless of the input source.
