RED1 vs Carlos Ruiz

  1. 2008-11-04 19:29:55 UTC
    Hello ppl,
I been waiting for this moment, that Carlos turn on his skype machine so i can strangle him. An hour ago he did, but i cannot strangle him because Skype is not that advanced yet.

Well, we talked... and my jokes did not work this time. But the shouting was good. What else can you do if you cannot strangle each other??!!!

I think we feel better now. Sorry to disappoint those who wants the Project to die sudden death.

I have differences with him on some approaches. But that is all there is. Straight different people kind of differences. We agree on one thing in the end. The project has to evolve. Other than that is noise.

Hope the lurkers from OpenBravo and Compiere can go back now.

    Hey guys,

    Good to hear!

Next time place someone with a bucket full of water and a reanimation kid beside your skype session. Just in case ... ;-)

Look at our stats below from http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/?group_id=176962&ugn=adempiere . We are 3rd most active today beating OpenBravo at 10th. This is what you can call "Losing the leadership battle to win the project war".

But lets not sidestep ourselves with such figures alone. What is really a statistic is how many people hs help us as a bazaar/project and trust that we are not a commercial outfit that can be sold off. The community is very assured of that.

For more than 2 years we we have very able maintainers led by Carlos Ruiz and Low Heng Sin and the committers and Subject matter expertise all around that has ensured that the trunk and application eco-system grows unabated continously.

Even though they are not paid a single direct cent, they can 'show up' for work almost daily. The community must appreciate such untiring effort and see for themselves the fruits of it right in the codes themselves. Like Linus is said to say, "Show me the codes", we can now show you the codes!

Ever since Compiere forking point, we have lots of everything to show. All done without the purported USD12 million that Compiere needed or Euro10+m that OpenBravo has. To be more active than them both is proof what the community has a sense of what is needed.

What is even more valuable is that the community is making money and making it in the way where they can have the lifestyles they want - having more time besides money, so to give quality time to their family.

Having a Free software project to work on that respects you and your works is the best career incentive you can give yourselves. No employer can do that. All they want is that you repay them in loyal work. We are not saying that that is wrong. All we are saying is that 'wouldn't it be nice, if you can have the best of both worlds?'.

Working on this project for the the last 2 years has increased my skills and know how more than the 3 years before with Compiere. As a bazaar, i known more nomads than before. But most importantly i have known an unbelievable understanding friend in Carlos Ruiz.

Last night we would have thrown each other to the whales. Instead i noticed he actually did not shout as much as i do. He will not type when i am typing. And will wait for me to finish typing before he does. I was not stopping my SHOUTS for like 30 lines before i noticed that he was patiently waiting for me to stop. I became ashamed quickly and did stop and say "ok, your turn'.

I now have save up the whole skype i have with him and am willing to sell it for Euro10 per copy. All proceeds will go to the 'Save The Poor Developer Who Got His Commits Reverted fund'.
