New website theme for 2010

  1. 2009-12-31 10:08:39 PST
Hi guys! :D **Happy new year to everyone! May God bless you this year! :)** Btw, I made this new theme for ADempiere. I thought, it's a new year, why not make the look different :D I haven't finished creating the other pages, thinking about the template, color combination, and which details goes to which page (for a better look) really takes time. Anyway, here's my initial design for the landing page, [click here.][1] Since I'm using Drupal for ADempiere, after I've created all the design I have to convert it into a theme, so this might take a while. I'm really thankful to everyone, for your help and time. You can post a reply if you have some suggestions or a web page that you think ADempiere Community website would be needing. If this is alright with you guys, then the moment I'm done with the design and drupal theme, I'll update the website. Thanks again! :) **Jairah :D** [1]: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/2536/adempiere2009.jpg

Jairah - IMHO it looks great! Can I suggest to change the 33 flags on the Adempiere worldwide for these ones (in this order). NOTE: This is the order of visitors to www.adempiere.org during all 2009. These 33 countries sum the 82.33% of the 75582 visits reported by google analytics: Ordered by number of visits (first having more visits): United States Germany Brazil Indonesia Italy India Malaysia China Spain Mexico Colombia Peru Philippines France Taiwan Chile United Kingdom Singapore Pakistan Canada Australia Argentina Venezuela Thailand Russia Serbia Vietnam Ecuador Switzerland Netherlands Austria Japan Kenya BTW Jairah, I don't know if you have noticed this [call][1]. Do you want to **formalize** your citizenship - as you're already one, very good and active. :-) Regards, Carlos Ruiz [1]: https://sourceforge.net/projects/adempiere/forums/forum/611167/topic/3499326

Hi Carlos! :) Thanks for the reply! :) I just randomly placed the flags there... This list will help, btw, should I do it from left to right or top to bottom? Also, I missed that call, I'll reply now. :) Thanks for that! :) Jairah :D

Hi Jairah, Good work!..I agree your proposal, surely we can improve it over time, but the important thing is to make this change now. Regards,

Hello to everyone again! :) I didn't expect this much of deadline at work. I'll do my best finishing the design and theme for the website, hopefully end of this month. :) Thanks! Jairah :D

Hi Everyone! :D At last, I'm done with the website... thank you Lord! :D Anyway, please check it and give me your feedback if I missed something or there is something I should change. Oh, btw, I met my deadline.. XD Thanks! Jairah :D

hi Jairah ; Check'em out: Names like > Catura | Paul Aviles | Joerg Viola | Praneet Tiwari | Hengsin | Xiaomj | Stefan Kuthan | Rob Klein | Jeff Davis | Posterita | Berrita | CarlosRuiz | Red1 Looking some odd due to background and font same > as dark colored , according to my mind it will be more good in look if it color as white or else , what you say ?
  8. 2010-01-31 17:07:42 PST
Hi nasiraftab, hmm... white is nice but how about I use a lighter color of red instead? why red? well, i think it shows that the following people are people they should really check out and it relates to the open source erp banner... it gives the feeling or impression that the people under "check 'em out" are very much related to the open source erp red banner... making it white ( i just tried it) makes it plain... well that's what i think.. :) - jairah :)
  9. 2010-01-31 17:15:56 PST
oh, to follow.. i just tried different color of light red and it doesn't fit.. so, i guess i'll go with the original red for now... unless more people would ask me to change it to white then, i guess i have no choice. :) regards, jairah :)

Hi jairah, one thing i saw was that on my notebook i have resolution of 1440x900 but i have both scroll bars ... at least horizontal there is no need for scrolling. Regards, Dominik

Hi Jairah, The sites really great now. BTW, the ADempiere 3.4 ERP Solutions ads has gone now :) Could you please help to set it back? Thanks and regards bcahya http://sistematika.web.id
  12. 2010-02-01 05:24:38 PST
@dominik: yeah, i noticed that too... i realized that the width of the site is too long.. XD that's one in my enhancement list... :) @bcahya: yes i know, i'm planning on animating the banner and put the ad there.. don't worry i didn't forget it. :) I'll update it soon... thanks for the responses. Jairah :D

hi Jairah, great work! I like to propose another enhancement. The page is loading very slow in my browser and is completely white until everything is loaded. I think if you would put height and width attributes along with every image then text will be visible while the images are still loading. This way the browser does not have to wait for all images before calculating the layout AFAIK. Regards, Dirk

    @dirk: sure, that's noted... :) Thanks! Jairah :)

Hi Everyone! :D At last, I'm done with the website... thank you Lord! :D Anyway, please check it and give me your feedback if I missed something or there is something I should change. Very nice Jairah, well done. the site is looking very professional these days. Colin

i think maybe because the image for the book "Open Source ERP" is quite large. Perhaps making them into medium thumbnail together with Bayu Cahaya's book on Adempiere 3.4 can be nice. But i leave it to the web mistress best judgement,
  17. 2010-02-02 18:55:31 PST
You are correct Red1 , i would like to see Bayu Chaya's book should be on the front page , may be both small , let me put some layouts to choose from again if its not too much we are not asking for too much our web mistress ;-) , i love this community for the way it stands up when there comes to take these kind of decisions , you guys rock .
  18. 2010-02-06 02:23:10 PST
Hi guys! I updated the website again. :) Following updates are: - bayu's ebook is now included in the header of the site - banner changes every 8 secs - I modified a bit the ebook (i hope bayu doesn't mind :) ) - images have width and height attributes - horizontal scrollbar is now gone ;P For special announcements, like seminars or conference, we have spaces under the header. For other resources (like future ebooks or anything that we can put in image), we can always add pictures that will slide with the current header. Best Regards, Jairah :D

Jireh, You did an amazing job. Praise God to give you such a skill and spirit to contribute. Thank you for resolving our website presentation needs which so many have been complaining about previously. Hopefully they like it now and give thanks to you at least. red1
  20. 2010-02-06 02:38:46 PST
Jireh, I like to propose some words for the right side of the main banner as the rest of the sentence disappears at the moment: "The ADempiere Project is a worldwide community of developers. implementers and supporters of Free ERP Software" others can of course propose something else. I don't care.
  21. 2010-02-06 04:07:46 PST
Hello red1, All thanks to God :) Anyway, what do you mean by "as the rest of the sentence disappears at the moment:"? You want to add this sentence "The ADempiere Project is a worldwide community of developers. implementers and supporters of Free ERP Software" in the transition? or remove the current one and replace it with this one? Thanks for the feedback. I'm happy to contribute. :) Jairah :D
  22. 2010-02-06 04:59:24 PST
I noticed the present sentence ends in "to meet" and not saying meet what. If you can find the original sentence or just end it properly it should be fine. Your idea about making it in transition with the sentence i suggested above is a good idea. Lets try and see.
  23. 2010-02-06 08:55:36 PST
Hi Jairah, Thanks Keep up the good work , i like the new design . -Satya

Hi, I have some recommendation for web page improvements (constructive critism) - hold the line of the todays web 2.0 pages: 1. Try to optimise images: page is little slow 2. Try to use much more standards html elements as and SEO principles, as i.)Put the most important message to the title ii.)Make attention to keywords and page description...etc in head of the page (in the source) iii.) H1 (as head "message: as pure opensource erp, or other most important message") iv.)Project summary, Recent News put as H2 because are second most important sections - try to use pure text then image (crowlers are not recognise them if images) 3. not important, but: what is the CMS framework on which running this page ? my favorite is liferay - we have some experiences - I should help to switch in the near future - (also should be important for adempiere - mentioned as portal for adempiere - a saw somewhere in forums. ) maybe we can improve the site from these perspecives. norbert [nbe222]

Hello Everyone! :) @red1: oh, you're right, I'll complete that sentence I got it from the old site... thanks for pointing that out... ;P @satya: thanks! :) @nobert: hi, your suggestions are good... but, maybe i'll do that on the next web site update... ;) and i'm using drupal... relax guys, we can always improve the website, we have time... :) unless there's a mistake or missing part, like what red mentioned... i'll try fixing that asap :) best regards, jairah :D
