• Acronym 0.9.9 Released!

  I am pleased to announce version 0.9.9 of Acronym: a fast acronym generator with a simple GUI. Acronym started off as a simple exercise in GUI-based application development. It was used to gain familiarity with the wxpython library. This release includes many fixes and enhancements including the use of the use of the Probstat library by Jack Diederich for efficient permutation finding. The release includes standalone packages for Linux and OS X, made with PyInstaller and py2app respectively. Have fun!

  0.9.9 - Added 'File' menu with 'Save as...' (text) functionality - Locked window size for Preferences pane - Added more keyboard accelerators (shortcuts) for menu items - Made 'minimize' and 'maximize' buttons inactive for preferences pane - Made number boxes narrower in prefs pane - Added cycle-tab functionality to prefs pane - Added 'OK' button to prefs pane - Added File menu and 'close' option to prefs pane - Preferences are now saved automatically - Fixed prefs pane closing app bug - Size of the window saved automatically - Font size is saved automatically - Added zoom to results pane (doesn't work properly on OS X) - "Initials" and "Acronym" table headers are now always inactive - Results now stay in situ if the user cancels out of the large results warning - Large results now warning disappears as soon as you have chosen an option - Removed 'intelligence'. Now all words are capitalized. - Significant performance improvements: switched acronym generation algorithm to use Probstat library; switched to virtual listctrl widget.
