ok, how about this, before you can really capture the look and feel of the mac apps through a specification, you'll have to provide a groundwork, no one will just choose to use apps using an aqua look/feel because they can, you should get a display server working, then move straight into the desktop, gett the desktop up and running, have your startmenu or mac equivalent, your finder, your dock etc all of that up and running. this will enable you to debug your API don't jump into getting every app you can get your hands on made, first give us a working desktop, if people like it which theey should they will help you implement the rest of your api, just get a basic desktop that looks/feels/acts like the OSX one.
