  • AChecker 0.5 Beta Released

    AChecker is a Web accessibility evaluator, used to review Web sites to ensure they will be accessible to people with disabilities. This is probably the last Beta release of AChecker before the final 1.0 release. Feedback and bug reports should be submitted before the end of May, 09. Download http://www.atutor.ca/achecker/download.php Feedback http://www.atutor.ca/forums/ Here's a list of features you'll find in this release: Regular Users * Accessibility Checking: Set the standard against which to evaluate your Web page, then generate a report of Known, Likely, and Potential accessibility problems. * Markup Validation: Turn on Markup Validation, to validate your HTML while reviewing accessibility. * Display Source Code: Turn on source code for quick review of the HTML surrounding places where accessibility problems are identified. * AChecker Handbook: Throughout AChecker, open the handbook for a description of how things work. Registered Users * Save Reviews: After resolving all issues, and answering all questions for likely and potential problem, save your results to generate an AChecker Seal that can be added to your Web site and linked directly to the saved review. * Customize Standards: If you need an accessibility standard other than those included with the system, design your own by selecting a subset of all the accessibility checks available in system. Administrators * Manage Users: Manage users on the system, and assign them to various users groups with various permissions to perform AChecker related tasks. * Manage Groups: Create groups as assign permission to groups to: use AChecker, manage users and groups, manage guidelines, create and edit accessibility checks, add and remove languages, and permission to translate AChecker. * Guideline Management: Manage the existing guidelines, add new guidelines, and approve guidelines developed by other users. * Check Management: Manage all aspects of the accessibility checks in AChecker. Modify text, adjust check functionality, or create new accessibility checks. * Language Management: Import AChecker language packs to make it available in other languages. Transalte AChecker if the language you need is not yet available. * Profile: Manage your personal information stored in AChecker. Developers * Web Services API: Developers can query AChecker from within their Web applications using the REST protocol, and have accessibility reporting as an integrated feature of their applications. * Public Source Code Repository: All AChecker source code is availbale for public Checkout from our Subversion version control system.

  • AChecker 0.2 Beta Released

    The second development release of AChecker is now available. AChecker is a Web accessibility evaluation tool that tests Web sites for conformance with various international accessibility guidelines. This version is released primarily for curiosity and testing purposes, leading up to a 1.0 release in the coming months. AChecker Download www.atutor.ca/achecker/download.php AChecker Demo www.atutor.ca/achecker/demo/ New in AChecker 0.2Beta User login: Multi-user authentication has been added. Users can register their own account on the system, save data, and edit their profile. Guideline Management: Users can create their own guideline set, choosing from the 270 or so accessibility checks, to create their own custom guidelines against which to evaluate accessibility. Administrators can approve user custom guidelines for public use. AChecker Handbook: The handbook documenting AChecker is now available to be populated with instructions and other details on using AChecker. Looking Forward to 0.3 Beta In next development release, a few weeks away, we are planning to add administrators' User/Group Management, and make the translation and language tools available so translators can begin translating AChecker to other languages.
