Notes:

Changes: 9/25/00 : JumpStart! Team <jumpstart@www.linuxalpha.compaq.com> * JumpStart! 1.1 released. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 9/23/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Changed text in afterboot utility to give instructions for booting Red Hat 7.0, and to make the SuSE instructions easier to read. 9/22/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Fixed a segfault where machines with large numbers of disks (e.g. Jim's test machine with 10 hard drives) would overflow the buffer for the disklabel view in the advanced menu. 9/21/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Changed the "Reboot the system" item in the error menu [ask_oops()] to "Reboot to SRM". This seems to be the behavior people expect. 9/17/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Re-enabled the hwclock scripts, with modifications to make them detect and correct ridiculous dates (e.g. the 2020/2048 bug) * Applied some of Alex's changes from the MILO/AlphaBios branch, including fixes for problems with Red Hat and SuSE installs. 8/29/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Disabled the hwclock scripts in /etc/rc[06S].d to keep JumpStart from monkeying with the hardware clock. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/10/00 : Alex Dingle <alex.dingle@compaq.com> * Performed a major revision of the README. * Modified the repair boot path reboot menu to display 'reboot to the Linux installation' instead of 'reboot to the afterboot utility'. 8/8/00 : Alex Dingle <alex.dingle@compaq.com> * Fixed an invalid symbolic link to the kernel that was being created in the 'repair boot path' utility. * Fixed an error in setting the SRM boot device on EV5's. * Made a minor fix to the manual boot instructions. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/7/00 : Alex Dingle <alex.dingle@compaq.com> * Fixed a bug that was causing trailing garbage to be displayed in the redhat boot instructions. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/1/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Added a new target to the Makefile: 'lite' This will build a stripped-down JumpStart! ISO image, about half the size (100MB) of the regular ISO. Half the fat, all the flavor! * Replaced duplicate binaries in mntroot/bin and mntroot/usr/bin with links to eachother (e.g. zcat, uncompress, gunzip linked to gzip) * Added code to pick a reasonable default kernel if the desired kernel isn't available - useful for jumpstart-lite. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/31/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Removed the APB/ and MILO/ directories (they may return in a future version, however) --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/31/00 : Alex Dingle <alex.dingle@compaq.com> * Added more SCSI devices to the build enviornment. * Added code to prevent the setting of SRM variables on Jensen systems. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/28/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Tweaked Makefiles and aboot.conf to create a jensen kernel with a different version number (2.2.16cpq-jensen) so we can have a jensen-bootable kernel on the CD alongside the 'generic' kernel. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/27/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Changed eject_cdrom to use O_NONBLOCK so we don't get stuck if the CD-ROM drive doesn't want to eject. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/26/00 : Will Woods <will.woods@compaq.com> * Removed unnecessary files from documentation/ tree, and changed html files to point to the location of those files on the web. * Recompiled the kernels with the bigmem patch - this should fix problems on ES40 machines. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/21/00 : Alex Dingle <alex.dingle@compaq.com> * Added code that automatically configures the SRM boot variables, enabling booting directly into the after-boot utility. * Added improved support for Linux->SRM device name translation. Multiple SCSI controllers should now be handled properly. * Added verbose handling for installing from SCSI cdroms to IDE disks on EV5 or lower systems, which causes our linux->SRM device translation to fail. * Fixed problems with SCSI CDROM drives. * Added support for ejecting the CDROM when a CDROM based distribution is selected in the after boot utility. This is currently a bit broken. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 7/21/00 : Changelog begins. Current JumpStart! version is .21
