Notes: This release provides bugfixes and compatibility with kernel release 2.6.16. RPM users --------- You have to install the gigaset-driver package matching your distribution and architecture _and_ the gigaset-modules package matching your kernel version, distribution and architecture. After a kernel update, install just the new gigaset-modules package. Kernel 2.6.17+ -------------- Starting with the upcoming kernel release 2.6.17, the Gigaset USB drivers will be part of the official Linux kernel. There will be an adapted driver package for those kernels providing just the user space scripts and documentation. Do not compile and install the driver source RPM on such a kernel unless you are sure you know what you are doing. Other Notes ----------- This is still a beta release, so we are grateful for all reports about successes as well as problems using this software. If at all possible, please include in your report - the exact type of Gigaset device you used or tried to use - its firmware release number - your Linux distribution and kernel version - the release number of the Gigaset hardware driver you used, - and any error messages which may have appeared in your system logfiles. If your Gigaset device wasn't recognized at all by the driver, it would be most helpful if you could also include its USB device ID and other information shown in /proc/bus/usb/devices and/or by running the command "lsusb -v" (as root).
Changes: - compatibility fixes for kernel 2.6.16 - fix crash when accessing /dev/ttyG* with unplugged device
