If you have not already read the README.txt file that announces this release,
please do so first.

This document describes some of the changes and features that you will
find when using this new version of Furthurnet.  We hope you will consider
them useful and provide us any feedback you may have on anything that is
broken, suggestions you may have, or flat-out praise  ;-)

Major issues addressed since version 1.7.3:


- Introduced FLAC support for .flac filesets at 16 and 24 bits 

- Introduced a yellow "firewalled" light to alert users when they are
  operating behind a firewall

- Added a counter to show the number of upload slots in use, and to show
  additional speed information

- Improved the user interface with new icons, new graphics and new
  error/information messages

- Added user interface features relating to window size and placement

- Added code to ensure backward compatibility with JRE v. 1.3.x running
  on OS X

- Fixed several sorting bugs

- Created a new installer for Windows users, to resolve problems where
  users could not start the application or find their configuration files

- Fixed several display bugs in OS X that prevented ub-windows from being
  drawn properly

- Fixed a bug that prevented OS X users from making the initial connection
  to the network

- Fixed the OS X file chooser for "Prompt for Save Location"

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are upgrading from version 1.7.1 or earlier, you should 
read the release notes that accompanied verision 1.7.2.  Version 1.7.2 made 
significant changes to the way Furthur handles files.  Although it is 
generally safe to upgrade from 1.7.1 or earlier directly to 1.7.4, you may 
have trouble starting Furthur or locating your partial downloads.  If so, 
please read the 1.7.2 release notes, available at 
http://www.furthurnet.org/1.7.2.install.notes.html.
