SwingPix Photo Organizer

File Release Notes and Changelog

Release Name: 0.7

Notes: SwingPix Photo Organizer - 0.7 Brought to you by Team Swingline May 26, 2003 http://swingpix.sourceforge.net ------------------------------------ PRECAUTIONS: SwingPix is provided with no warranty as to the suitability/robustness blah blah blah - you're on your own from here on out. We are designating this release as version 0.7 because we feel we are really close to a full-featured, production-quality application, but would like to iron out a few things first. You can safely begin using SwingPix for your digital photo needs, and in the meantime we're going to keep making it better until we reach a real 1.0. We are very proud to release 0.7 as it is much more useable than beta2. We have been going nuts fixing bugs, adding missing features and providing MILLIONS of UI fixes. Among new features since beta2, you will find: * Photo editing (most operations present, though currently a bit slow on large images - i.e. greater than 800x600) * Saving/Reverting including Undo * Save for Email function for batch reducing images for email/web use * All printing functions except "maximum output" printing work with minor bugs REQUIREMENTS: A PC with at least a 1GHz CPU and at least 256MB of RAM. SwingPix is, so far, completely platform independent, so you may get by with arguably more efficient hardware (SPARC, PowerPC, etc). Also, your machine must have a Java 1.4.0 or greater installtion. Current functionality is of production quality, and all advertised features are considered stable - although some functionality is still missing and (of course) bugs do linger. INSTALLATION: We now provide a WebStart installation which is available at: http://swingpix.sourceforge.net/install/installpage.htm Or, if you prefer, you may download the latest version from our SourceForge website: http://sourceforge.net/projects/swingpix/ After downloading and decompressing the .zip, simply navigate to the expanded directory and run: FOR LINUX: > ./SwingPix.sh FOR WINDOWS: > SwingPix.bat You can expect that SwingPix will do just about whatever it wants within this directory (creating/deleting files and folders) but should really not mess with anything outside of it. Also, if you want to go digging into the files and folders created by SwingPix, be our guest - just don't expect everything to work properly next time you fire up SwingPix. BUG REPORTING: You may have noticed that it is slightly difficult to get a hold of a SwingPix official email address. This is not an accident. At this stage of development, we are only concerned with valid bug reports about features we are not already aware are broken. To submit a bug report or feature request, please go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/swingpix/ and use the fabulous bug reporting system that SourceForge provides. Please be as descripive as possible when reporting bugs - if we can't reproduce the bug using your bug report, we'll be forced to assume that our code is flawless and that you are a lunatic. We are also proud to annouce that all the (very patient indeed) mothers-in-law and aunts who have been dying to try SwingPix, but were rattled by previous "beta" releases, should now feel confident to start managing their digital photos with SwingPix... after all, we had them in mind when we designed it - it's about time they got their hands on it. We at Team Swingline (please don't sue us, we're poor college kids) wish the best and only hope that SwingPix will make your life easiter. Please enjoy and check back regularly for updates ;) -Team Swingline
