File Release Notes and Changelog
Notes:
Hello,
This new version includes a new installer that should do everything
automatically.
As the "EASEAv0-7uandGUIDEv0-1bExecutableInstaller" file is an executable file,
you must allow it to be executed by unix with the command:
chmod +x EASEAv0-7buandGUIDEv0-1cExecutableInstaller
(for those of you who are not familiar with UNIX, nowadays, most shells
provide an automatic completion feature that completes the file name once you
have typed the first few characters when you hit the TAB key, or ESC, or
CTRL-D, or ... depending on your system settings, meaning that typing only:
chmod +x EAS+TAB_KEY
could be enough.)
Once this is done, launch the executable installer by typing:
EASEAv0-7buandGUIDEv0-1cExecutableInstaller (or EAS+TAB_KEY).
The rest should be straightforward.
Please send a bug report if something does not seem to be working on your
system.
Now, a few words about this 0.7b version and GUIDE v0.1c.
It is quite a long time since the last release in december 2001 !, but this
means quite a bit of changes too.
EASEA now features a Graphic User Interface for the Description of Experiment
(GUIDE) which is in its 0.1 version (meaning it is still quite young and
probably not bug-free).
As far as EASEA is concerned, this 0.7b version does not yet handle GALib.
Many parameters were added to pilot the quite complete EO library, and this
version can be used to create JEO java experiments for the DREAM.
*** Concerning compatibility between v0.6 and 0.7 :***
.ez files are compatible EXCEPT FOR THE LONGER LIST OF PARAMETERS.
To upgrade from a v0.6 file to a v0.7, just replace the parameter list at the
end of the old file with one that can be found at the end of one of the
example files (onemax.ez or listsort.ez).
A simpler way of doing this is to load an old 0.6 file with GUIDE, and save
it.
GUIDE will add a correct parameter list with default value. Please check that
the default values added by GUIDE are satisfying before you run your algorithm
again.
The documentation is not really up to date, as it comes from the EASEA v0.7a
version that was issued for the DREAM research project. An up to date
documentation will be coming soon although the one from v0.7a is quite usable.
I hope you will be enjoying this new version and its graphic user interface as
much as you have apparently (in your mails) been enjoying the previous one.
As usual, please post to the easea-help list in case of problems
(http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/easea-help) or contact me.
Cheers,
