DVDibbler Change Log
New in version 1.7.4 (build 030302)
? New Feature: Added support for DV Format encoding. (NOTE: Requires DVBinaries version 1.3)
? Released DVBinaries version 1.3.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.7.3 (build 030301)
? Bug Fix: The 'Key Frame Rate' field could have been set incorrectly when a user loaded saved settings. This has been fixed.
? Bug Fix: Previously, if the user chose to crop the video, but not scale it, an error would occur. This has been fixed.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.7.2 (build 030226)
? Bug Fix: Under some circumstances when user settings were loaded, some fields were set to a value of '0' when they should have been empty. This has been fixed.
? Bug Workaround: A bug in the Mac OS X port of mencoder is preventing the use of some options when the XviD video codec is selected. These options will now be ignored to prevent an error occurring.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.7.1 (build 030223)
? Bug Fix: The new options introduced with version 1.7.0 in advanced video drawer D were not included in the .plist file when a user saved their settings, and they could not be reset. This has been fixed.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.7.0 (build 030222)
? New Feature: Users can now choose to display verbose output when creating a file. (Option can be found in drawer C of Advanced Video.)
? New Feature: Added another advanced video drawer with the following options and variables: 'Luminance Masking', 'Darkness Masking', 'Strict Standard Compliance' and 'Data Partitioning'. Also added a button to swap between this new drawer and the existing crop and scale drawer.
? NOTE: The 'Strict Standard Compliance' option has been disabled. Testing showed that it requires a parameter, but as this is not mentioned nor explained in the MEncoder man file, it cannot yet be implemented.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.6.1 (build 030217a)
? Bug Fix: When the 'Reset' button in User Settings was used, the selected Video Codec and selected Audio Codec would be incorrectly set. This has been fixed.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.6.0 (build 030217)
? New Feature: Added preliminary support for Dutch and French localization.
? Custom video bitrate now works with the XviD Video Codec.
? Removed 'Find' sub-menu.
? Released DVBinaries 1.2. Includes the latest binary files as of Feb 16th 2003. Now also installs several configuration files used by mplayer and mencoder.
? NOTE: The author would appreciate any help in localizing DVDibbler. All contributions may be credited at contributors request.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.5.3 (build 030216)
? Behavioral Change: Using the 'Reset' button in User Settings no longer overwrites saved user settings in the .plist file. It only resets settings in the currently running DVDibbler application windows and drawers.
? New Feature: Added Audio Codec option 'Frame Copy'. This option simply copies audio from the source, without re-encoding it. (Useful for AC3 audio.)
? Bug Fix: Code check for Audio Codec option 'No Audio' was incorrect and rendered it unusable. This has been fixed.
? Bug Fix: If the selected Audio Codec was not MP3, then an error would occur. This has been fixed.
? Removed old code no longer required.
? NOTE: Audio Bitrate and all Advanced Audio options (with the exception of the Audio Preload Buffer option) ONLY apply when encoding with the MP3 AudioCodec.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.5.2 (build 030215)
? New Feature: Added menu option (under 'Help' menu) to search for available drives/devices. Selecting this menu item will display a panel with the results of the 'mount' shell command.
? Added menu option to display Change Log in panel.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.5.1 (build 030214)
? User Requested Feature: User can now click a 'Save As..' button to select file name and save location. The extension '.avi' is no longer added by default if the user changes the default save name and location.
? Bug / Interface Fix: Previously, if the DVDibbler window was closed, the only way the user could regain access to it would be to quit and relaunch DVDibbler. Now, the DVDibbler window is listed under the menu option 'Window', and can be made visible by selecting its entry.
? Changed the menu item 'Load/Save Settings' to 'User Settings'.
? Changed the descriptive text 'Save DivX File As...' in the main window to 'Save Destination File As...'.
? DVBinaries has been updated to version 1.1. Includes binaries dated 28.01.2003, readme.rtf and license.rtf. (Available as separate download, not included in DVDibbler download.)
Known bugs
? If user selects 'Save' in the User Settings window, an item undefined error may occur if the user has not used the 'Reset' button during the current session.
? If user selects the 'Reset' button in the User Settings window, the Audio Preload Buffer value text field in the Advanced Audio drawer will not be correctly set to its default of 0.5.
? Display glitches. Some panels may persist in the background after the user has closed them.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.5.0 (build 030213)
? New Feature: Added support for saving and loading user settings.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.4.4 (build 030211)
? Key Frame rate is now user definable. (The default remains 132, as defined by the DivX standard.)
? Merged the 'libavcodec's deinterleaving filter' and 'deinterleave' options. Correct filter is used based on Video Codec selected by user.
? Interface tweaks.
? Released DVBinaries, a 'one-click' utility to install the required 'mencoder' and 'mplayer' binaries.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.4.3 (build 030210a)
? The 'Encode Only' (time limiter) feature introduced in version 1.4.2 was broken. This has been fixed.
? If XviD was selected as the desired Video Codec, then the 'Preview Encoding Script' option did not function. This has been fixed.
? 'Destination File Path' has been simplified to 'Save DivX File As...', and now only requires a title for the destination file. All files are saved to the users Desktop and the extension '.avi' is added by default.
? Now checks for DVDibbler Application Support folder, and warns the user if it is not present or incorrectly installed.
? Removed code no longer required.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.4.2 (build 030210)
? New Feature: Added an 'Encode Only' option in advanced video (although it applies to both audio and video). This option can be used to instruct mencoder to only encode the first hours/minutes/seconds of a source as set by the user.
? Cleaner layout for Help Documentation.
? Multipass options (already disabled and non-functional) have been hidden until they can be implemented.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.4.1 (build 030209)
? Customized 'About DVDibbler' Window.
? Updated Help Documentation. Now includes a basic 'walkthrough'. (User requested feature.)
? Removed old code no longer required.
--------------------------------
New in version 1.4.0 (build 030208)
? New Feature: You can now preview the encode command script that is sent to the Terminal app. You may also edit this script prior to accepting it and sending it for processing.
? Bug Fix: In versions prior to 1.4.0, enabling the Audio Preload Buffer option in Advanced Audio would result in an error if the user did not enter a value in the relevant input field. This field now contains the default value of 0.5 to avoid this error.
? The help documentation has been updated.
? Various interface tweaks.
--------------------------------
