The installer grabs it and displays the available distributions (as in "Download Applications" in ZIC). The user chooses the distribution and then its applications. Right now, the URL to distributions.xml can only be specified upon installation of the installer. The next release will come with the feature that it can be re-configured. > Or did I get it the wrong way? Maybe, what you are searching for is a kind of simple or static ZZ/OSS Installer Server (ZIS). The ZIS itself is just like PEARWeb a server-side package deployment application. There you upload packages, define applications and distributions. What you might want is that you can define a simple deployment infrastructure with the installer client itself. Something where you add various applications to the installer client and later choose to export them. This would give you a .tgz that you can extract on your server, which will include all the distribution(s).xml, application(s).xml, package(s).xml you need. Then you point the installer to the distributions.xml and you got your own deployment network up and running. In this respect, I see that a drop-down list would be good in dev_application_import.php that allows you to choose from already importet distributions. Sandro |
