(Originally I tried to send this to the list by hitting 'reply' with a Cc: to Steve. This is my second attempt, this time copy and paste of Yaml-core into the T0: field. Sorry if you get multiple copies, Steve.) --- Steve Howell <sh...@zi...> wrote: > I am actually starting to think it's better for PyYaml not to be > in the core now, because it's still growing. > > It's better now to worry about getting PyYaml into Python > solutions than into Python itself. In the 'Python solution' on which I have been working for some time, persistence is currently handled using the pickle module. I'd like to explore using YAML instead of (or along with) pickle. Toward that end, I have now installed PyYaml, and plan to start experimenting with it early next week. Just to give me a quick jump start, though, may I ask a couple of questions? (1) How similar is the PyYaml API to that of pickle? (2) Does PyYaml automatically use __getstate__, or will I need to use deepcopy prior to dumping the state of a complex object? Thanks. ===== Donnal Walter Arkansas Children's Hospital __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
