I am working on setting up xwax for use at my monthly club gig. I am getting very close to having it working but I have a few problems. I have Fedora 12, an Audio 4 DJ, Technics 1200's and Serato Scratch Live v2 control records. According to the instructions from Native Instruments, the input mode should be set to "vinyl control" which lights up both the Line and Phono input LED's. I can use amixer in Linux to set the input to either Line or Phono, but not both for vinyl control. Does anyone know what this setting actually does? If I leave the input mode on Phono, I can load an audio file into xwax and it looks like the vinyl control is working, however there is no sound output from the audio 4 (no output LED's are lit). I tested the line input by using an external phono preamp between the Audio 4 and the turntable, and this works, I got vinyl controlled output from the Audio 4. Another issue I'm having is that xwax seems to import mp3's at half speed, making them sound slow. This could be improperly encoded mp3's, which were 10 year old ones I got from Napster. But, I have a friend who uses Serato regularly, and says that elliptical needles such as I use with my Stanton Groovemaster cartridges could be causing trouble with timecode calibration. I'm going to get a pair of conical styli today. Any assistance or advice will be greatly appreciated. With any luck I will start dj-ing with xwax at this event: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&gid=106894626265 -Andy |
