I'm using xvidcap-1.1.4p1.

Problem: xvidcap is so slow in recording mode that it is almost useless.

Example. For a 600x600 window (in single-frame or multi-frame mode and whatever codec), i'm unable to get more than 2.9 fps. While recording Xorg is eating 90% of cpu time (normal?).

In order to get 10fps, I must reduce the window size to 240x240, which is pretty much useless. At this size Xorg is eating 50% of cpu time while xdvicap is eating 10%.

Btw, my compter is not very old: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 4000+ with 4G RAM running FC6 with kernel 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6. My desktop resolution is 1600x1200 (true color).

Is this normal, or something is going wrong?

Thank you,

AB.

Oh! I think i found a solution. Just in case it might help anybody else, here it is.

I changed my video driver from "nv" to "nvidia" and xvidcap looks pretty good now. I have no problem getting 16fps while recording a 800x800 window.
