Greetings XTF users,
XTF 1.8-beta is now available, and we need your feedback on it.
In addition to minor bug fixes and features, this release contains
two major new features specifically for the XTF community, and
thus we need outside testing before calling this a final release.
1. New stylesheets that support not only TEI, but now EAD, PDF,
HTML, and Text files. Meta-data indexing is enhanced and simplified
to look for a *.dc file, and if not found, to look inside EAD
and TEI files. The EAD support is very simple, just using one of
the stylesheets from the EAD 2002 cookbook. Still, the framework
is in place.
2. XTF's old non-standard whitespace stripping is now disabled
by default. Things should operate much more like command-line
There is new sample data that you can try it out with, that
demonstrates the new simplified directory structure. All are
available for download on the SourceForge site:
Your feedback is important to this release. Try dropping in your
data and let us know what happens! The goal is for new users to
have an easy time.
Howdy XTF aficionados-
If you have a live or soon-to-be-live XTF production site for public
consumption, (outside of the CDL system and the
encyclopediaofchicago/Northwestern), I would like to hear from you so I
can ask you some questions about the implementation process to help us
gauge the fit. =20
