I'm trying to figure a strange little problem out, and I'm
hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm trying to get xawtv 3.6x to display a remote window from a
Linux machine running XFree86-4.0.3-5, and don't seem to be
getting anywhere with it. I can spawn other remote x clients
such as xterms, mozilla, and others, but haven't had any luck
with this one. I've been able to successfully get xawtv to run
on remote connections, including forwarded X over ssh to the
University I work at, but those were all Linux machines running
the same version of X, along with whatever modules for the video
I'm not sure where to begin, or even if the X server for
Darwin/MacOSX supports this kind of configuration.
I'd normally pass the app the command line
xawtv -b 24 -remote -display [host]:0.0, but have tried many
variations on this app, and still get nowhere. I've tried
disabling Xv, dga, and setting the remote host. I've also tried
different bitdepths, but that doesn't seem to matter. When I run
it, it does, understand my local xinerama setup, but it never
gets past the point of initialization.
[rick@... 8 ~]$ xawtv -remote -v2
This is xawtv-3.65, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.12-ac5)
This is my MacOS environment:

newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)

any help would be appreciated. Surely I'm not the one who wants
a little tv window on MacOS. I'd be willing to post more info if
that would help out.
Thanks in advance!
