XInstall_10.1.sit, XFree86_4.2.0.1-10.2.zip,
XFree86_4.2.1.1.zip

Installation of these files (in that order) seems to go
perfectly alright on my (iBook) system:

Darwin Kernel Version 6.6: Thu May 1 21:48:54 PDT
2003;
root:xnu/xnu-344.34.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC.

But when I start XDarwin it exits after the "Welcome to
XFree86" window.

In fact, no wonder, the /usr/X11R6 directory is nearly
empty, like the /etc/X11 directory.

It looks like a bug in the XInstall_10.1.sit file.

Unfortunately SourceForge won't let us change the submitted by
item. However, there are known problems with our old installers
running with the very newest version of Apple's Java. The new
installer for XFree86 4.3.0 should not have this problem. Please
download and try XFree86_4.3.0.dmg from this site.

From which site please? Cannot find the file on xfree86.org.

OK, I think I've found the file on sourceforge.net.
Unfortunately, I must wait until I'll be back home to my
    ADSL link.
On this place I've only got the plain old telephone system.

    Thanks a lot.

Since there's been no follow up, I assume the new installer
    worked. Closing.
