Titles seen in current listings: 1, Newsround Special: Afghanistan Whose Side Are You On?: A Newsround Special which I guess should be split with title Newsround and subtitle as appropriate. 2, Deal or No Deal Fifth Anniversary suggest title "Deal or No Deal" subtitle "Fifth Anniversary". 3, Michael Parkinson Booked: Stars of the National Book Awards Tony Blair Booked: Stars of the National Book Awards Unfortunately I only just noticed this and the Tony Blair prog has already aired, but it might be worth looking out for more of these and grouping them by one title, e.g. "Stars of the National Book Awards" or possibly "Booked: Stars of the National Book Awards". Hmm .... I think this caused my mythtv system to miss recording this programme last night. I'd created a recording rule and seen the programme in the upcoming recording list; but it didn't get recorded and there's no sign in the logs that mythttv made any attempt to record it. I presume what happened is that I created the recording pre-fixup and then, following a subsequent xmltv run, the programme title changed and no longer matched the rule? I've recreated the recording rule to catch the repeat. Interestingly the two recording rules I've now got contain different seriesid and programid values. I think I'd have expected them to be the same? Maybe I've just been unlucky but perhaps there's a warning there for others. I might look at creating my own custom record rules, which I guess is in effect what the fixups are? |

I apologise that you missed the recording due to this late update. I think this is the first time I've heard of this happening (although it can't be the first time it has happened). I try to get updates incorporated at least a week ahead of transmission where fixups are specific to a particular programme title. Many fixups can be applied automatically whenever a specific title (or title pattern) appears in the listings, but others need to be added on a per-occurence basis. > I presume what happened is that I created the recording pre-fixup and > then, following a subsequent xmltv run, the programme title changed > and no longer matched the rule? Correct. > I've recreated the recording rule to catch the repeat. > > Interestingly the two recording rules I've now got contain different > seriesid and programid values. I think I'd have expected them to be > the same? MythTV creates these ids based on a hash of a programme's title text. If title fixups are enabled in uk_rt and a programme title is changed (to move part of the title text to the subtitle, for example), the programme id would change in MythTV the next time XMLTV data is imported. > Maybe I've just been unlucky but perhaps there's a warning there for > others. I might look at creating my own custom record rules, which I > guess is in effect what the fixups are? You can maintain your own local fixups and use the XMLTV_SUPPLEMENT variable to point the grabber to local copies of the supplemental files the grabber uses. Note that _all_ supplemental files are obtained from this location, so you'd need to sync the utf_fixups and channel_ids files too. There are some notes on this variable in the tv_grab_uk_rt manpage. You can also create custom rules in MythTV that match specific names in programme title's descriptions. I find myself doing this more and more in order to catch things I might otherwise miss (irrespective of programme title changes). MythTV really needs a good recommendation system. A few more XMAS change requests: Change "Children's Hospital at Christmas" To "Children's Hospital" / "Christmas Special" Change "Chris Moyles' Christmas Quiz Night" To "Chris Moyles' Quiz Night" / "Christmas Special" This one has historically always had Christmas in the title. It is on BBC4 this year. I suggest putting it back to its Christmas title and if BBC4 are going to expand to new shows outside of the Christmas period we change the title back then. Using the previous title will ensure recording rules will pick up this show this year etc. Change "Royal Institute Lectures" To "The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures" (keep existing SubTitle information however) Many thanks. |

We already had a fixup for last year's shows. > Sorry for replying to myself but in addition to above (sorry I missed a few): Not a problem. Even better if you could provide them in the format used in the prog_titles_to_process file, so I can easily add them. > Change "The Graham Norton New Year's Eve Show" > To "The Graham Norton Show" / "New Year's Eve" > > Change "Top of the Pops Christmas" > To "Top of the Pops" / "Christmas" > > We need to standardise on one of these (I pref TOTP2 and I think this > is what on screen graphics etc use but not sure): > Change "Top of the Pops 2" > to "TOTP2" Checking the BBC, the "official" titles are "Top of the Pops" [1] and "TOTP2" [2], so we should use those. The following needs splitting on the colon. Details here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serious_%28TV_series%29 (too early it appears for the BBC website).
