If anyone reports a bug there I will deal with it (provided SF is smart enough to remind me by email). I like bug tracking systems, but I hate Sourceforge's web interface. More seriously, I think that a bugtracker is more appropriate for outside users making a 'report'. When I find something wrong I can either fix it myself or contact the developers more directly, because I know the people involved. I don't need the extra barrier / indirection provided by a bug tracker. But if making a bug report about a project I'm not involved in then I'd use one. Another disadvantage is that it splits the discussion about the project between two places: this mailing list and the bug tracker's archive. On a big project where the central mailing list is overcrowded that makes sense, but XMLTV is small enough that it's nice to observe everything in one place. OTOH, I do agree with the principle of using a bug tracker to organize things and avoid forgetting stuff. Okay, how about this. When I find non-urgent things that I know to be a bug I'll report them on SF. If there needs to be 'discussion' about the best way to proceed then the person responsible should probably ask on this list. I reserve the right to bypass the bug tracker and hassle developers directly if I'm hurrying to make a release :-). - -- Ed Avis <ep...@do...> Finger for PGP key -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8LyhBIMp73jhGogoRAtpYAJ0ae5AlG+ZVGdeXfBk5zfNdiCimswCfY+Bm 3yMbOQDO69vwUX7jF+Ut/xM= =1k40 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
