Despite the fact that a fully functional version of xml2sqr exists and works on many of our production sites, it has never been completely loaded on the Source Forge repository until now.
That version (last release id was 0.5.bt2) had many problems, was not really well documented (well, it was not documented at all), was difficult to use/debug and so on.
Unfortunately, our internal works did not permit to dedicate enough time to the development for the community, until now.
In the last month, we started working on a new development version, a complete reengineering of the system.
Its main release id is 0.6
It is still beta, not fully functional, but is a better candidate in order to be a product for the community.
- It implements both the interpreter and compiler working modes.
- It is scalable: it can work in clustered or load balanced environment.
- It has better organized filesystem, revised generic libraries and libraries layout and so on.
- It has a lot of major corrections and simplifications
- finally we began documentation production! tutorial are also expected. We hope to help all interested users in understanding how the platform works.
The system still runs only in microsoft vba-vbs scripting environment (this means that its final product is simple vb code), but we are implementing, in the mean time, a jsp-compiled only version. It will be available in some weeks.
The basic idea is to release, starting from now, all intermediate versions to the community, ordered by date (the containing folder name is formatted according YYYYMMDD). The date reflects also the complexity of the contained
system.
This is a good opportunity, for everyone interested, because permits to study the system while it is developed, every version ordered by a date-relatedto-complexity id.
XML2SQR is also written XML2 (at least, in text mode; if you can do superscript, the "2" goes a little upper.).
This document and its updates will be a "kind of" documentation, at least until a real set of instruction will be delivered.
I'm working hard on it, but it will take still a little of time.
I will try to post all this on the news of the xml2sqr home page
Thanks in advance for your attention.
