I'm making repetitive types of corrections to a large file.
I like the fact that the keyboard shortcut for Find jumps the cursor from the text to the open Find panel.
(I have actually changed this to F5 from Ctrl+F so that it matches TextPad, allowing me to use the same keystrokes for this action in both programs.
I also use F8 for Global Find and Replace; and Ctrl+F5 for Replace.)
Especially when Global Find & Replace becomes modal, it would be nice if the key I pressed to go from the document to the Find panel or the Global Find & Replace dialog went in the other direction if you pressed it a second time.
- If you're in the document, F5 takes you to the Find Panel and F8 to Global Find & Replace
- If you're in the Find panel, F5 takes you back to the document and F8 takes you to Global Find & Replace
- If you're in the Global Find & Replace dialog, F5 takes you to the Find panel and F8 returns you to the document
(I omitted Replace, but same logic. And I used my keystrokes, but it would be 'whatever the program indicated'.)
I think the likelihood of pressing F5 twice in a row inadvertently is low, although I can see there may be some slight merit in not making this toggle.
