What version of xine? Seeking in MP4/QT files should work great (I
have one 2-hour .mp4 file that seeks perfectly). How long is this sample
file that you are creating? This is a long shot, but it's possible that
the file is short enough (10 seconds or less?) that the video coder
decided to use no keyframes except for the first frame. The demuxer can
only seek to keyframes.
