Hello, I have just installed Linux Xantros today and I am setting up. Unfortunately, as I know nothing technical regarding programming, I was immediately stumped when I tried to open Xine to test play a DVD. All I received was a very pretty "Xine" in a black surround with the words "could not find MRL" ... or words to that effect. Please can someone tell me, in the simplest of lay terms, what I have to do to get the DVD player to play a DVD ... as far as I know the dvd is not encrypted ... but I could be wrong. If someone knows the answer to this then please, please explain it to me as though you were talking to a young child! (Mind you ... some of them could probably throw together a complete Linux OS from scratch ...!!). Thanks Ablot |

To do that, you can open a terminal window and open xine the following way (DVD in drive) : xine --verbose=2 dvd:// Post all you see from that point. Regards, Marcel |

This issue has been solved. The problem was a missing libdvdcss package on a Xandros Linux system. Not all that easy for someone new to Linux to install something like this, specially when a dependency (libc6) is missing in a repository :-( Tim, I hope you enjoy the movies and your Linux challenge ! regards, Marcel |
