I'm new to this list and to Xine/DVD playing
And I'm trying to get my first DVD to play
After reading the DVD file listing and pressing 'play'
the following message repeatedly rattles off the screen
demux error! 00 00 00 (should be 0x000001)
I'm obviously using an encrypted disk. But I have used the CSS plugin
version of Xine.
The syslog shows the following
ide-scsi:hdd:unsupproted command in request queue(0)
end request : i/o error, dev 16 : 40(hdd), sector 2209832
I've setup a raw device /dev/raw/raw1 linking to /dev/rdvd as per FAQ
I've tried using rpcman to disable the drive but it always returns with RPC1
in the response. rpcman uses /dev/sg1, is this correct ?
The drive is a LG DRD8080B on /dev/hdd using link /dev/cdrom2
I'm using Mandrake 7.2
Do I need to turn off supermount in the fstab? , and mount the drive using a
Or do I need to a specific link say /dev/dvd?
Do I need hdparm dma set ?
Any hints gratefully received

If I use the standard ide-cd interface to read from my DVD (a Pioneer
DVD-ROM ATAPI Model DVD-105S 011, ATAPI CDROM drive), I get the infamous
demux error (both with a regionalized disk and an 'open' one). If I use
the ide_scsi interface, everything works great ...
The only problem is I can't use a raw device ... (You can't link a raw
interface to a scsi device, can you ?) nor I can enable my drive DMA
Anybody can give some advice or suggestion about this questions ?
I have my ide dvd drive setup as ide-scsi and I'm using a raw device. It
works for me. I have /dev/raw/raw1 setup for 11,0 which is sr0.
