It's pretest time for a release xine-lib-1-beta11 of xine-vcdx. Folks
who would be willing to help out by testing out before the general
release are encouraged to do so.
Here again are the changes over the last release:
modified for xine-lib API number 12 (introduced with
Added texinfo/html documenation for Video CD plugin.
Bug fix: VCDX defaulted to play an "entry" even if there was PBC.
A slash has been removed from MRL's to match other xine plugins. So
vcdx:// is now vcdx:/
A enhanced CD-DA plugin has been included (which also uses
libcdio). To get CDDB info you need libcddb. CD-DA improvements
over default xine-lib plugin:
- Can specify device as well as track.
- Because we use the libcdio library, the "device" can be a disk image
to be burned (e.g. a cdrdao bin/cue pair and some primitive Nero
- Can customize the title display and meta-info comment field.
- Customize whether or not to use HTTP proxy for CDDB.
- Dynamic debugging
- Ability to get a "directory" list of the tracks on the CD
- Can view CD as one large unit (composed of tracks) or
as individual tracks.
However this is not for the Bill Fink types who are put off who
are put off by having to install dependent software: this
and the future VCDX plugins now require libcdio and an
cdio-enhanced vcdimager. This is different from before.
To get libcdio:
Manfred Tremmel has a packman RPM for this at:
For the CD-DA plugin you can optionally install libcddb which can be found at
or as a packman RPM at http://packman.links2linux.de
Lastly you'll need to test a modified vcdimager which is no longer
part of the xine-vcdx. (Stephen Torri mentioned the ugliness of having
this embedded a long time ago and suggested removing it, and I am only
too happy to comply).
To get tarballs for xine-vcdx-1-beta11 and the cdio-modified vcdimager:
Or via xine's CVS and vcdimager's CVS (with the cdio branch).
