Hi again folks, Ok. It's definitely a Xine problem. Xine is treating one drive differently from the other. I can play the commercial DVD in my burner but not in my LG player. I've been told that: "Because it is the player software that handles all the CSS decoding, not the drive. The drive might arbitrate the access, but when you have RPC1 firmware it is completely region agnostic." Does anyone know how I can capture verbose system output from xine in order to report the bug properly and diagnose the problem? I'd like to be able to compare the output from the two drives. I've flashed the bios on the LG GDR8162B DVD drive twice more now - once as a RPC1 drive and once as a RPC2 drive. It still won't play ball with Xine. All help appreciated. b. Here's the output from the drive probes with various bioses installed: (All fail to play the commercial movie). 1.Region locked drive: rpcmgr12.o -s /dev/sg0 Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVD-ROM GDR8162B Rev: 0015 RPC2: region mask: 1, user: 4, vendor: 4, status: set rpcmgr12.o -i /dev/sg0 (with dvd that won't play in drive) Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVD-ROM GDR8162B Rev: 0015 CSS: enabled, region mask: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 2.Drive with bios flashed to RPC1 rpcmgr12.o -s /dev/sg0 Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVD-ROM GDR8162B Rev: 0015 RPC1 rpcmgr12.o -i /dev/sg0 Travelogue video Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVD-ROM GDR8162B Rev: 0015 CSS: disabled, region mask: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Commercial movie Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVD-ROM GDR8162B Rev: 0015 CSS: enabled, region mask: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 3.
