No way, external subtitle support has been readded after beta2. So you have two choices: 1) using CVS versions (lib/ui) 2) wait the next releases. BTW, subtitle file specification has changed, one more time ;-), the mrl syntax accept parameter like this: <mrl>#subtitle:<subfile> and with xine-ui <mrl>::<subfile> you can also use xine-ui subtitle feature, to set/store/change(on the fly) subtitles.
