[xine-user] Help regardingwhat I guess is a FAQ not in the FAQ?

Hi; I've been having recurring trouble with a single problem, plus a minor extra problem, and I'm looking for some help :).

I've checked the FAQ, and the manuals (README etc), but no luck.  staretd with xine-0.9.9, and have upgraded to xine-0.9.12, but the problem remains.

...and yet I'm sure its somethign obvious tthat I'm doing wrong :(

MPEGs seems to play fine, (opnly tried a few), but when playing most MP3's, I get:

"audio_out: inserting 3673 0-frames to fill a gap of 7509 pts"

messages every 5-10 seconds or so; this seems to happen with all my MP3s (which came from different sources, different bitrates, and all play fine in Winamp (under win2k) or xmms (underXfree 4.2.0).

Please note: my hardware setup is NOT a slow machine, and no other apps have sound problems, so I doubt this is "hardware can't decode fast enough" (AND CPU usage is 0%-10%), but I could be wrong...

CPU: 1ghz Celeron
RAM: tonnes free (about 150Mb free)
X: Xfree86 4.2.0
Xine: 0.9.9 and 0.9.12
Sound drivers: I have both libarts and libalsa installed, but no sign of OSS. (N.B. I've manually installed sound drivers in several linux workstations before, but still don't really understand WTF is going on with them!)
WM: KDE3 installed (but not in use), no Gnome at all, just using plain X11 with IceWM.
Kernel: 2.4.18

Other problem:

Keymaps. Ugh. I don't like the default, but I love that the devsyou have made it so configurable (nice one :). However, there's not much docs about them, and XINE seems to overwrite my .xine/keymap every time it quits (which would be OK, except that it "creates" shortcuts for anythin I have removed from the keymap, buggering up the keymap for the next time I use Xine.

Basically, I just don't want 90% of the entries in the keymap, but I can't seem to turn them off - and if I assign all unwanted entries to one key, then I get about 100 error windows every time I start XINE!

Any suggestions? Help? Advice? and perhaps, the answers could go in the next FAQ (if they are as simple as I suspect theu may be!)
