Flush with my success with the Akira DVD, I went on to buy another batch of DVDs. After a bit of panic while I tried to figure out how to get to the main menu to turn on subtitles, the DVD played perfectly, with one annoying cosmetic hitch: the subtitles are a yellowish color that is often very hard to read against the background action. I found the misc.osd_text_palette setting in the config, but that appears to have no effect, either on the subtitles or on the on-screen status display in the corner (which, I presume, is what it's actually meant to affect). My working hypothesis is that the subtitle colors are specified on the DVD somehow; what I'm hoping is that there's some bit of the code I can poke on to say, "I don't care what the DVD says, I want the subtitles to be white, durnit." For reference, xine-lib and xine-ui are 0.9.9 release, dvdnav is CVS as of yesterday. TIA. -sbigham |
