I cannot determine if this is a wxHtml issue, bogus
html or an xchm problem.

I created a chm (using the HTML compiler from
microsoft) of the J2SE 1.5.0 javadocs. I probably have
some smaller javadoc chms lying around if you need a
test case for this problem.

The issue is that it will only honor a anchor target
that does not contain a period.

For example:
<!--
// in the page java/sql/Connection.html
Does NOT work
-->
<A
HREF="../../java/sql/Connection.html#prepareStatement(java.lang.String)">prepareStatement</A>

<!--
// still in the page java/sql/Connection.html
this one DOES work
-->
<A
HREF="../../java/sql/Connection.html#setHoldability(int)">setHoldability</A>

Any insight you can offer would be appreciated

    WxHTML bug, contact the wxWidgets people with your example html.
    Check out the samples directory in the wxGTK source tree,
    there's a wxHTML example somewhere there. Load your html
    file in it and see if it follows anchors correctly to make
    sure that's the actual bug, then submit the bug report to
    the wxWidgets bug list.
