New xCHM binary for Mac OS X

Courtesy of Mojca Miklavec, I've uploaded a new binary of xCHM for Mac OS X.

Have fun with it!

xCHM v1.23 released

Prompted by Mojca Miklavec's work on the MacPort version of xCHM, here's 1.23: it's wxWidgets 2.9 / 3.0 friendly, a few minor bugs were squashed, and the build scripts have been updated.

Enjoy!

xCHM switches to Git

Long overdue, I've switched the VCS to Git (thus retiring CVS).

Here's the code:

Enjoy! (if you're into that sort of thing...)

xCHM v1.21 is out

This version fixes a fonts setup bug, and updates the Polish and Russian translations.

New xCHM for Mac OS X build available

A fresh build of xCHM v1.20 is available for download. Universal Mac binary, as usual.

Enjoy!

New release: xCHM v1.20

Everyone building xCHM for x86_64 (64-bit) platforms should grab this update. Version 1.20 fixes a nasty bug that crashes xCHM when the CHM is just "right", if the application's been built for a 64-bit system.

Yet another release for Mac OS X (v1.19.1)

Universal Mac binary built using XCode 3.1 on a Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). It uses wxWidgets 2.8.12 and CHMLIB 0.40 (statically linked). This release is probably as non-Latin-character-set-friendly as xCHM's ever going to be. Also, a bunch of minor bugs have been fixed.

I've improved a few things in the last couple of days, so get this one instead of v1.19.

New xCHM v1.19 binary for Windows 32bit

Built with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. This release is probably as non-Latin-character-set-friendly as xCHM's ever going to be. Also, a bunch of minor bugs have been fixed.

New release: xCHM v1.19

The new version enables proper support for Chinese BIG5 and Japanese SJIS characters (when linked against Unicode wxWidgets). A few bugs have been fixed as well. I'd recommend that you upgrade to this version.

Enjoy!

New xCHM Mac OS X binary

After many years, at last a new Universal Mac binary built using XCode 3.1 on a Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). It uses wxWidgets 2.8.12 and CHMLIB 0.40 (statically linked).

Let me know how it works.

Binary xCHM 1.18 for Win32 released

All kinds of bugs were fixed, but the best news is probably that the new binary has finally been compiled with the Microsoft Visual C++ Express 2010 compiler. That means that it no longer depends on the MinGW runtime DLL, and hopefully that it works a bit faster and more reliably.

xCHM v1.18 released

This is mostly a bugfix release, though a few features have crept in. You'll want to upgrade to this version - for more details look at the README file in the xchm-1.18 release directory.

xCHM v1.17 released

Fixed the code to compile out-of-the-box with GCC 4.4.
Binary distribution users should be completely unaffected by this, it's more of a maintainer-friendly release.

Binary xCHM 1.16 for Win32 released

Fixed a bug that affected displaying non-Latin characters in the table of contents, refactored the code a bit, and improved the detection and selection of non-Latin character sets.

But the Win32 xCHM users will probably be more impressed with the new major feature added since the last Win32 build: you can now browse your CHM file using several tabs per CHM document!

xCHM: v1.15 released

xCHM is a cross-platform GPL frontend for CHMLIB (http://www.jedrea.com/chmlib/) written with the wxWidgets framework.

The new version adds tab-browsing support a la Firefox, it's GCC 4.3 friendly, and needs wxWidgets 2.8 or higher to work.

Enjoy!

xCHM Mac builds discontinued, please donate if you need them

I no longer have access to the Mac machine I've been using to build Mac binaries of xCHM on.

Sadly, that means that I will no longer be able to build any new versions of xCHM for Mac OS X. The remedy, unless this is to happen again, is to get a dedicated Mac machine. Unfortunately, the cheapest one available to me costs 800 EUROs.

If Mac binaries are important to you, and you can't or don't feel like building your own from source, please use the "Support this project" button on the bottom of any page on the website, and maybe we can build up to the required sum.... read more

xCHM v1.14 released

I've just released the source code for xCHM 1.14.
This is, however, mostly a source-level fix release. There shouldn't be any significant difference for users of the pre-compiled Win32 and Mac binaries, so it's only helpful for various distributions' maintainers of xCHM.

Pre-compiled xCHM 1.13 for Win32

xCHM is now available for download as a pre-compiled Windows binary (version 1.13). It's been compiled with MinGW on a Windows 2000 system. You should really consider upgrading, since this version is using binary table-of-contents and index information (the older version used to parse HTML files in order to get at that information) - so it should be considerably faster. Plus, I could use the bug reports :-) (just kidding, the software is obviously perfect).

xCHM v1.13 for Mac OS released

Universal binary .dmg now available for download.

Small fixes: xCHM 1.13

If you're still using wxGTK 2.6/Unicode, and you're having problems with some special character languages in the index list, this fix release is for you.

xCHM v1.12

This release fixes several bugs that crept in with the introduction of the binary index and TOC code. Also, Unicode-enabled builds of xCHM should be more friendly with special character languages.

Binary TOC and index support: xCHM v1.11

xCHM is now the first non-MS CHM viewer able to parse and use the binary table of contents and index files inside CHM books. Upgrading to 1.11 is strongly recommended, as this version loads CHMs way faster, and it also fixes a couple of bugs.

Major bugfix release: xCHM v1.10

wxGTK mutilated links are being fixed at filesystem handler scope, thus printing broken path images works now. F9 toggles the contents pane just like Firefox does, more interface translations are now available, you can load CHM files by topic, and the code is now wxGTK 2.7.x and 2.8.x friendly.
An upgrade is strongly recommended.
