    Hi,

So, currently, whenever I hit the start / stop button in the SSP prefpane, the System Preferences crash.  Samba itself is fine, and things stop / start just as they are supposed to, and, in fact, just as they *used* to.  This problem didn't show up until recently.  As near as I can figure it, it started after I one day, for some reason, decided to move the prefpane from the main Library to my user Library.  Then crashing commenced.  Returning it to its rightful place did not return my system to the happy state it was in before, however.

Since then, I have also tried reinstalling (i.e. deleting the Popup and Config Tool and Prefpane and re-d/l'ing them and copying back), and I tried deleting the System Prefs cache in my home directory.  Furthermore, the crash seems to also happen with others admin accounts.

    So... any suggestions?

Sorry if I stupidly overlooked something...

    Here are some details:

Same problem. I had no problems for the first few months. I think the problem started when I disconnected the Ethernet cable while Samba was active, but I'm not sure.

Pressing start or stop does start/stop the server. It just crashes immediately afterwards.

De-installing and reinstalling didn't seem to help. I tried trashing the prefs files in ~/Library/Preferences, but that didn't get me back to working condition, either.
